Anna Fisher is a senior slick graphic designer with extensive experience in branding and packaging, interpretive signage design, public art and environmental graphics. For the Fisher family it’s a dream arrive true. Seven years ago graphic designer Anna Fisher and husband Christian, an architect, were living a ordinary urban lifestyle in one of Sydney’s most sought behind suburbs. When it came to the material for the floors, doors and window frames, recycled timber was out the question. The stainless steel benches in the kitchen were sourced from a commercial kitchen company at a segment of the cost of standard kitchen suppliers. Like many people on country properties, the Fishers aren’t connected to the town water supply. We also planted natives to seduce birds. Outdoor play is encouraged there are limits on both television viewing and computer games, but Mia prefers riding her bike and playing in a neighbor’s tree house or on a trampoline. Around the house, other insignificant touches disclose Anna and Christian’s commitment to sustainable living. Says Anna. We had minimal issues during construction and the works came in on time and under budget. Each dwelling has two segregate open rehearsed living areas which provide a sense of spaciousness, and controlled openness that ensures privacy from neighbors. Heather Street Housing is a Housing MSW project designed for earlier people and those with disabilities. With living rooms opening onto a grassy play area, the design maximizes northern solar access and prevailing ventilation paths throughout, creating a light, airy and colorful family home. Integration of the structure with artwork and interpretive panels creates an engaging experience through which one enters the island, enhancing awareness of the instinctive and cultural significance of this exceptional place.
